Get to Know Emily Hainsworth
Welcome to Get to Know [Author], an interview series in which I ask questions that help us get to know the person behind the book. This week I’m featuring Emily Hainsworth, the author of Through to You! To learn more about the book, check out my review! If you’re looking for a quick rundown, Through to You follows Cam, a guy still mourning the death of his girlfriend. Cam accidentally discovers a parallel world in which his girlfriend is still alive and eagerly gets back together with her. But what kinds of consequences will this bring?

Three fun facts about yourself?
1) I’m a National Certified Master Dog Groomer
2) I’m married to someone I fell in love with at age fifteen.
3) My sister’s name is Charlotte, but we were not named after the Bronte sisters.
Camden discovers a parallel world in THROUGH TO YOU and asks after his dead girlfriend. What’s the first thing you’d investigate in an alternate universe, were you to discover one?
Ooh, this is a tough one! But I guess curiosity would get the better of me and I’d have to see what I was up to first. I’ve made some choices that could’ve made my life very different in a parallel universe. I think I’d like to see how they might’ve panned out (and now you know where I got some of the inspiration for the book!).
THROUGH TO YOU also focuses on grief. Did any of your own experiences with grief help inspire Camden’s story?
To some degree. Thankfully, I’ve never lost someone as close as Viv was to Cam, but the idea of suddenly being without the one person who understands you most is pretty powerful. I tried to process what those feelings would be like on the page and let Cam’s emotions set the tone.
Comment question for readers: If you discovered a parallel universe, who would you try to find first?

Great interview:)
I’d do what Emily said, go find myself, see what I’m doing and if I turned into someone I would like, someone kind and thoughtful. If my alternate self was okay, likable, then I’d go find my best friend, and hope we were best friends in the alternate world to.
If I turned out to be someone awful, I’d do anything to shake some sense into me:)
I love that her sister’s name is Charlotte, not to mention the fact that she married her high school sweetheart! So sweet! I love getting to know all about authors, so fantastic interview, Lauren! (Plus, I am SO jealous she’s reading Level 2…WANT!) ;)

Great interview. I think like Emily said, the best thing is to find yourself first.

wow, those three facts are so interesting! i wish my high school sweetheart was my husband (or maybe not).
if i found a parallel universe, i would probably look for myself first! see what she’s up to.
I always love a bit of background thank you.
As mentioned I’d check out what the other me is up to.
My comment is on the post before this one. I would find myself first, to see how my life was altered in this parallel universe.
